Just an hour's drive from Amsterdam and three hours from Antwerp and Bremen is the enchanting world of Friesland. With four national parks, two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, eleven historic cities, islands in the Wadden Sea and the Frisian lakes, it offers an embarrassment of riches. An endless horizon, clean air and sparkling clean water everywhere.
Take a deep breath and enjoy. In the capital city of Leeuwarden, the historic city centre shares space with modern architecture, and the more than 800 historic monuments reinforce the rich history of this royal city. Lonely Planet, National Geographic and The New York Times tipped Friesland as a top destination to visit in 2018.
